What IMBA is?

INTRO

IMBA, whose full name is ilmiobrokerassicurativo, is a Turin-based insurtech startup with the mission of revolutionizing insurance management, making it simple and accessible for everyone, from businesses to individual customers.

Problems:

WHERE TO START
  1. Lack of focus on Human-Centered Design (HCD), resulting in complexity when managing insurance and claims information.
  2. Absence of component analysis in designing the personal area.

Benchmarking

PHASE 1

We conducted an in-depth comparative analysis, examining both direct and indirect competitors to assess best practices and identify potential experience gaps. By personally testing their personal areas and policy management flows, we gathered valuable insights to optimize usability, enhance accessibility, and design a more intuitive and efficient user experience.

Component Selection

PHASE 2

We identified the essential functionalities, defining the most intuitive way for users to interact with them. Considering time constraints and the ongoing testing phase, the selection focused on widely adopted interaction patterns. This approach reduced the learning curve, ensuring a smooth and immediate experience for most users.

Wireframing and Prototyping

PHASE 3

This phase marks the transition from research to the visual design of the platform. Wireframes are developed to define the page structure, organizing content clearly and functionally. Each element is strategically placed to ensure an intuitive navigation flow, reduce cognitive load, and optimize access to key information.

Great attention is given to the management of white space, which is considered an integral part of visual hierarchy and readability. Mockups then transform these wireframes into high-fidelity interfaces, integrating typography choices, colors (aligned with brand identity), and interactive components to test the design before development. This ensures that the final product meets the usability and accessibility goals defined in the previous phases.

Handoff

PHASE 4

The project was closely followed by the IT team from the benchmarking phase, allowing us to anticipate potential technical limitations and promptly address any doubts or issues. In this crucial phase, the following were provided:

  1. Interactive prototypes for a clear and tangible view of the interactions;
  2. Detailed definition of element states to ensure consistency and accuracy in implementation;
  3. A comprehensive explanation of the entire user flow, ensuring the development team fully understood every step of the user experience.

This close and ongoing collaboration helped optimize development timelines while maintaining high quality and consistency in the final project.

Solution and final result

THE CONCLUSION

After weeks of work and collaboration, we are ready to launch the first version of the personal area. The next step will be user testing to validate every decision and optimize the experience.
