What Bauli is?

INTRO

Founded in Verona in 1922, Bauli is a global leader in the production of festive pastries such as pandoro and panettone. With a worldwide presence and a tradition of artisanal quality, Bauli embodies Italian excellence in the confectionery industry.

Problems

WHERE TO START
  • Lack of a product-centric UI leading to insufficient customer-product engagement.
  • Issues with implementing new accessibility guidelines, especially regarding text.
  • Limited time available for designing and developing a new website.

Site map analysis

PHASE 1

A sitemap analysis was conducted starting from the "old version" of Bauli's website. Based on Bauli's needs, a new user flow was developed by creating a new type of component.

New type of component

PHASE 2

One of the most impactful limitations of the project was time, so we developed a new component system to make the handoff process more efficient. This work was carried out closely with the development team to ensure each component was quick to build.

Design validation:

VERSATILE DESIGN

Multiple internal A/B tests were conducted to ensure the clarity and readability of the information, using Figma plug-ins like Contrast to validate the site’s usability. Following the internal testing, we partnered with AccessiWay for a final review, ensuring the highest level of accessibility before the site’s deployment.

A LOT OF DATA

Finally, I moved on to the data-entry phase in WordPress, building the pages by incorporating the text and images prepared by the Asterisco team. Every detail was meticulously refined to ensure that the site was not only accessible and user-friendly but also visually engaging and aligned with the brand’s identity.

The Result

THE CONCLUSION

To identify potential user issues and sensitive touchpoints, the solution was integrated into specific prototypes, which were then tested by groups with diverse skill sets. This approach helped highlight improvements for users of different expertise levels, from beginners to advanced, ensuring an accessible and optimized interface for everyone.

My Role & Insights

MORE DETAILS
  1. Creating simple, modular elements that are reusable, enabling the construction of multiple sections by changing just one component.
  2. Ensuring that each design and data-entry process aligns with the client's needs.
  3. Ensuring compliance with WCAG guidelines for accessibility.
